I guess I didn’t get the memo, since I spent most of the last decade trying to hire programmers in order to keep up with client demand. Just because the bubble burst doesn’t mean the industry dried up, it just means that the bubble burst. Lots of us kept on keeping on as if nothing changed, because for many consulting businesses, nothing did change. We kept delivering value to our clients, and getting referrals as we went. Just like consulting in pretty much any other industry.
